How To Enter
New Entry Guidelines for 2014. No boards required!
Simply upload digital images of your work. All work will be printed and exhibited at the Gordon Snelgrove Gallery on the University of Saskatchewan campus.
If a digital image does not adequately capture the physical essence of your entry (a book, special printing techniques, inks, paper, etc.), then a physical copy may be sent in addition to your digital submission (see Physical Submission Guidelines on page 6).

DESIGN
D1 / Annual Report
Print, digital or broadcast annual report/review for any publicly traded, private or non-profit organization.
D2 / Brochure / Catalogue / Book / Booklet
Single or series. Multi-page layout for a product(s), exhibition(s), service(s), publisher(s), institution(s).
D3 / Logo
Graphic or word mark for a corporation or organization.
D4 / Brand / Identity Application
Demonstrative application and usage of logo and/or corporate branding elements in static and/or dynamic formats.
D5 / Event Materials
Delivery of event branding elements in static and/or dynamic formats. Examples should demonstrate a minimum of 3 media touchpoints which can include: invitations, posters, micro-sites, social media, etc.
D6 / Public Service / Charity
Any form of print, digital or broadcast advertising or design for a non-profit or charitable organization.
D7 / Editorial / Magazine
Design layout for newspaper, magazine, newsletters, blogs, e-news, etc.
D8 / Packaging
Three dimensional delivery of branding. Any type of packaging or labels including those for food, products, music, etc.
D9 / Environmental / Exhibit / Signage or Graphics
Any extension of a brand into a physical space. Examples include temporary or permanent signage, exhibits, POP display, interior graphics, way-finding, wall graphics, etc.
D10 / Website
Primary website that is not tied to a specific campaign, contest or special promotion. Excludes entries submitted in the Micro-sites category.
D11 / Poster
Printed picture, placard or bill posted in a public place as an advertisement.
D12 / Miscellaneous
Visual design of materials/elements not listed in other categories. Excludes entries already submitted in another category.
D13 / Rejects Not Specs
Project must be work for hire. Visual design materials/elements that were rejected by a paid client. Excludes entries already submitted in another category.
CRAFT
All work MUST be shown in context, as it was delivered to the client, NOT shown on its own. Work submitted to this category will be subjected to the same criteria for eligibility as the other categories.
C1 / Writing
Best execution of writing delivered through a Design or Advertising medium. Examples include ad copy, radio, television, corporate writing, etc.
C2 / Illustration
Best execution of illustration delivered through a Design or Advertising medium.
C3 / Photography
Best execution of photography delivered through a Design or Advertising medium.
C4 / Typography
Best execution of typography delivered through a Design or Advertising medium.
ADVERTISING
A1 / Broadcast
Single or series. Video advertisement broadcast through television or cinema.
A2 / Campaign
An advertising campaign featuring the combination of at least 3 different traditional or digital media.
A3 / Print Advertisement
Single or series. Print advertisement for a paid media print insertion. Examples include Daily or Weekly magazine and newspaper ads.
A4 / Outdoor
Single or series. Outdoor, large format purchased media. Examples include billboards, posters, transit shelters, digital billboards, exterior transit, murals, etc.
A5 / Web Advertisement
Single or series. Online advertisement for a paid online media insertion. Examples include banner, pop-ups, pop-unders, floating/expanding ads, trick banners, interstitial ads, social media marketing, mobile advertising, email advertising, etc.
A6 / Web Video
Single or Series. Video advertisement not broadcast on television or cinema. Examples include online and viral videos.
A7 / Microsite
Campaign-specific website directly related to a homepage. Examples include contests and special promotions. May be time limited. Excludes entries submitted in the Website category.
A8 / Non-Traditional
Any entry utilizing non-paid media. Examples include guerrilla tactics, wild postings, stunts and ambient advertising.
To be eligible, work must have been:
- Commercially produced between January 1, 2012 through March 31, 2014 (does not apply to the “Rejects Not Specs” category). The Elevators Committee reserves the right to verify run times and request proof if necessary.
- Produced as work for hire — either monetarily or pro-bono — and approved by the client (does not apply to the “Rejects Not Specs” category).
- Made available to the public through legal media (does not apply to the “Rejects Not Specs” category).
Work must be submitted as it was originally released. The goal of Elevators is to showcase regional talent. As such, all entries must have been created primarily by agencies/teams/individuals working in Saskatchewan. Work produced out of market is not eligible.
UNACCEPTABLE:

Work not commercially produced between January 1, 2012 through March 31, 2014.

Any form of work that was not hired by a client — either monetarily or pro-bono. Fake work need not apply.

Entries may be disqualified at the discretion of the Elevators 2014 committee and/or the GDC SKN Chapter Executive without refund.

The same piece of work entered by two separate parties into the same category. Should this occur, one entry will be deemed ineligible by the judges and committee.
The Elevators Committee and the GDC SKN Chapter Executive is not responsible for any entrant submission error – the decision of these two entities is final. Entries may be moved into other categories at the judges’ discretion without the prior approval or consent of the entrant — however, an Elevator or Merit can/will still be awarded should this be deemed appropriate. The judges are not obligated to give awards in every category that has entries.
Design awards submissions deadline: May 23.
Early-bird deadline: May 14.
All payments must be finalized and all submissions, including hard copies, must be submitted by this date or you will be disqualified.
THIS DEADLINE WILL NOT BE EXTENDED.
LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
All payments and file submissions must be completed online through the website form.
Digital Submission of Entries
- Entries will be printed as 12” by 18” cards where applicable, including video, websites and web ads. Please provide a 12.5”w x 18.5”h, at least 200 dpi image of your entry submission with no crop marks (this includes bleeds and will be cropped). For a series you may submit up to 3 images using the website form. Save it in JPEG or PNG format. Movie files should be saved as H.264 compressed MPEG4 files at full frame size, maximum 30MB file size.
- All form fields must be filled out carefully. We are not responsible for miscategorized submissions. You may edit the description of your entries after they have been submitted.
- The judging committee reserves the right to disqualify material not submitted according to specifications for each category, without notification or refund. - The entrant grants permission for GDC SKN to show, duplicate or play entries on the Elevators 2104 website, at the Elevators 2104 event, on social media sites and in subsequent print materials (such as a winners booklet) related to the awards.
Physical Submission of Entries
- You will receive a confirmation number by email after posting an entry. Please write this number on the back of your physical submission.
- All physical entries become the property of GDC SKN, and will not be returned unless requested, at the entrant’s cost.
